In August 2026, the scientific journal Nutrients published the results of a study conducted at Tianjin Medical University, China. For 12 months, 360 people over the age of 65, diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment, were randomly divided into four groups. One group received vitamin D3 daily (800 IU), another DHA (1 g), the third a combination of the two, and the fourth a placebo. The study was double-blind: neither the participants nor those evaluating them knew who was receiving what.
After one year, all three groups that received supplements achieved better results on cognitive tests than the placebo group. But of the three, the participants who received DHA and vitamin D3 combined made the most progress, with greater improvements than the groups that received each nutrient separately. The researchers also observed a decrease in certain blood markers associated with a particular type of inflammatory process in the brain. They believe this mechanism could explain part of the effect and that the two nutrients act in complementary ways, through different pathways.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
The study followed older adults with mild cognitive impairment, and the authors openly state that further, larger studies are needed to confirm the results. Neither the combination of DHA and vitamin D3 nor any other supplement treats cognitive decline, but they can support the normal functioning of the central nervous system. What remains after reading the study is a serious argument that these two nutrients deserve to be looked at together, not separately.
The study was also covered by Știrile ProTV in its “Doctor de bine” segment, under the title “The vitamins that protect the brain. The combination could reduce cognitive decline.” You can read it in full in the journal where it was published: https://www.mdpi.com/2072-6643/18/17/2777
The study above centered on the combination of DHA and vitamin D3.
At Marine Biocare, we are heading in the same direction, and we are proud to take this opportunity to announce that we are preparing to launch a new product: Omega-3 Forte PLUS Suport Cerebral, a box of 60 softgels. It will soon be available in our partner pharmacies: Farmacia Tei, Bebe Tei, Dr. Max Hiperfarmacii and the Dr. Max online pharmacy.
From the very beginning, we designed this food supplement formula as a help, a support for people who work intensely, who fill thousands of office buildings until late hours, spending hours on end in front of all kinds of screens, trying to meet deadlines and reach their targets. We designed it as support for those facing exams or going through periods of preparation, with intense intellectual and/or physical activity. We also created it and want to bring it to market as support for seniors, who need care after a life of work and sacrifice. We thought of it as a useful product for every family, and we hope it will earn its rightful place in your life.
For anyone who wants targeted support for the normal functioning of the brain and eyes, the immune system and the cardiovascular system, this is a good reason to consider a product specifically designed to offer support on these levels: Omega-3 Forte PLUS, a box of 60 softgels.
One capsule contains 900 mg of Norwegian Epax 1500 TGN fish oil, with a minimum omega-3 concentration of 70%, including at least 450 mg DHA and 100 mg EPA. Both DHA and EPA are present in their natural triglyceride form, which the body recognizes and absorbs most efficiently. The formula is completed by 15 micrograms of vitamin D3 and 600 micrograms of vitamin A.
What it adds compared to Omega-3 Forte
Those already using Omega-3 Forte will recognize the same Epax oil and the same natural triglyceride form. The differences lie in the quantities and the new ingredients. The fish oil increases from 580 to 900 mg per capsule, and DHA from 250 to 450 mg. EPA doubles, from 52 to 100 mg. In addition, the formula includes vitamin D3 and vitamin A, which Omega-3 Forte does not contain. Omega-3 Forte remains the simple choice for your daily DHA and EPA needs, helping maintain a state of well-being and balance.
What these quantities mean in practice
DHA contributes to the normal functioning of the brain and the maintenance of normal vision when daily intake reaches at least 250 mg. The benefit is recognized only from this threshold upward. With 450 mg of DHA, one capsule of Omega-3 Forte PLUS provides almost double this amount. For comparison, a regular fish oil capsule often contains around 120 mg of DHA, frequently in the form of ethyl esters, which the body absorbs much less easily.
The 15 micrograms of vitamin D3 equal 600 IU. The reference value used on labels in the European Union is 5 micrograms, so one capsule covers 300% of it. More relevant, however, is that 15 micrograms is exactly the daily intake recommended for adults by the European Food Safety Authority. The maximum amount considered safe is 100 micrograms per day, so one capsule provides the recommended quantity without excess. Vitamin D contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system, bones and muscles.
The 600 micrograms of vitamin A cover 75% of the daily reference value. Vitamin A helps maintain normal vision and skin, complementing the role DHA plays for the eyes.
Until the launch, we will keep you updated on our pages. Like any food supplement, Omega-3 Forte PLUS is not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet or a healthy lifestyle. The product is not recommended for people allergic to fish or fish products.
